Claycrete™ is an Australian product which was formulated and developed by Brian Jackman in 1995. It is manufactured in Thailand and distributed globally. It is one of several products which offer road , pavement and slope stabilization, and soil membranes for liquid storage. In Kenya, IZAVCOM LIMITED is the sole distributor of CLAYCRETE. Claycrete is a liquid chemical additive which reacts with the clay fraction of a material only. Reaction as outlined elsewhere in this bronchure fundamentally alters the clay to make it a binder. Long after the product has biodegraded,the clay will remain in its stabilized state. The improved properties of the clay make it suitable for use in higher portions in road materials.Clay has been stabilized in the past by the use of lime but the process is expensive and application and mixing is difficult. Claycrete is unique because the stabilization does not depend on the presence of a residue product. After the reaction period is completed the stabilized clay is the remaining binder.The process of reaction between clay and Claycrete is exhaussive, permanent and irreversable with no leaching. Where a process depends on the introduced product acting as the binding agent, there will be progressive loss of benefit due to leaching. Additional loss is caused by mechanical stresses resulting from expansion and contraction of the untreated clay.

A well bound pavement is what every road Abuilder aims to achieve because a road that is low in void will be strong and durable. Road builders in Kenya and Africa in general, commonly use cement as a binder and this practice has been relatively successful, but it is too expensive to apply cement on to roads on a large scale.

The Claycrete™ Warranty is unique and universal. It promises that if the soil analysis indicates that the parameters for stabilization are met and the product is used correctly that the manufacturer will supply replacement product for any section of road that does not demonstrate structural improvement. In short the client is assured that every payment for stabilization will result in equivalent value of stabilization. The conditions for the warranty are not onerous.
